Artisans using a gas bottle for their mobile interventions – such as plumbers, roofers, welders or refrigeration technicians – are subject to certain restrictions, for practical and safety reasons. To enable them to work in all circumstances, Express has developed a portable gas cylinder that is easy to fill and handle.
Inappropriate conditions of a large gas cylinder
A large bottle takes up a lot of space in a craftsman’s car or van. It is also heavy and difficult to handle, which restricts the conditions in which it can be used. All interventions at height, on a ladder, on a floor or on work sites with a problematic configuration quickly become complicated, if not impossible
Moreover, if you need to move your bottle on a cart, but on an uneven surface, its use will be impractical.
The Express Workplace Bottle Practical and All-Purpose
The small Express worksite bottle is designed to fit any worksite and allow you to work in better conditions, thanks to its light weight and small size.
Technical characteristics of the Express portable gas cylinder
The refillable bottle weighs approximately 4 kilograms empty. It can store up to 1.6 kilograms of butane or propane. Equipped with a valve with a bleed screw for filling and a safety valve, it is supplied with its transfer connector which allows it to be connected to a standard 13 kilogram bottle.
Precautions to take before filling
When handling LPG, therefore hydrocarbons, you must take a few precautions when filling your site cylinder.
- Only transfer butane or propane gas contained in cylinders of 13 kg net weight.
- Always keep a fire extinguisher on hand.
- Proceed outdoors, away from any flame, ignition point, or sparks.
- Do not stand near access to basements, cellars, sewers, manholes, etc.
- Wear work gloves and protective eyewear to protect yourself from any risk of burns from evaporation.
- Never completely fill the site cylinder: the valve incorporates a filling limiter that guarantees a gaseous sky.
- Use the transfer fitting supplied with the cylinder.
- Use joints made from an appropriate material.
Filling Procedure for the Construction Bottle
- Tie the large bottle – containing at least 17 kilos – upside down.
- Place the small bottle next to it, head up.
- Connect the rigid transfer fitting ref. 7795 by tightening the nuts by hand.
- First open the tap on the small bottle, then very slowly open the tap on the large bottle.
- Let the small bottle fill slowly, until the sound of decanting becomes inaudible.
- Unscrew the V-purge by one turn at the most, allowing some gas to escape through the screw thread, while the small cylinder fills.
- When it is full – the liquid gas comes out in droplets – screw the V screw back in without forcing.
It is necessary to have the cylinder re-tested at the date written on it, and then every 10 years, to verify that the material has not been excessively damaged by impact or corrosion, and is safe.
